About Stuffies for Good
Stuffies for Good is named in honor of RenΓ©e Good and inspired by the life of Alex Pretti, as well as the many individuals and families who have experienced harm, injustice, or dehumanizing treatment.
Some have lost their lives standing up for the rights and liberty of others. We hold that reality with gravity and care.
These experiences have raised difficult questions β about fairness, accountability, and how power is used. They have also raised a harder question: If we stay silent, where does that lead?
This project grew from that place.
Immediately we were faced with the difficult decision of how to join the resistance. We realized that participation doesn't have to look the same for everyone. Through many discussions and brainstorming sessions we discovered this endeavor, and we are so happy to share it with you.
The Future
We hope this project creates moments of connection β conversations at kitchen tables, reflections during quiet evenings, stories shared between friends. If it helps even one person feel less alone in what they're carrying, it will have done something meaningful.
As each Stuffie travels from person to person, we are eager to witness the paths they take and the messages they evoke along the way.
With each new post, another voice rises to meet the chorus.
Together, they affirm a simple truth: a community is stronger when we care for each other.
In case you were wondering
Who are the people behind Stuffies for Good? +
We are three friends in the Midwest interested in sharing messages that are thoughtful, honest, and meaningful.
How do I get a Stuffie? +
Stuffies move through personal connections, and we have no control of the path they take.
We are exploring additional ways to participate for those who don't currently have a Stuffie. We invite you to follow along for future updates on this.
Who can participate in Stuffies for Good? +
Anyone who feels drawn to reflect, to share thoughtfully, or to follow the journey of the Stuffies is welcome here.
Right now, physical participation depends on receiving a Stuffie as it circulates. But being engaged with the project β reading the messages, reflecting, sharing its spirit, or posting about it in your own circles or on social media β is also a meaningful way to be involved.
But we love the Stuffie and don't want to pass it on! Can we keep it? Can we buy our own Stuffie? +
We know β it's hard to say goodbye. But these Stuffies are ready for adventure. If you know a knitter, they may be able to make you one using the Wee Woodland Wuzzies pattern. At this time, there are no Stuffies for Good for sale.
Where did the Stuffies come from? +
The Stuffies were all hand-knit using the Wee Woodland Wuzzies pattern by Barbara Prime.
I can't think of a message! +
Visit the Finding Your Message page to get yourself thinking.
Visit the Inspirational Messages page for more ideas.
Look for other inspiration, like a poster, postcard, or sign that says what you're thinking or feeling and take a photo of the Stuffie with that poster, postcard, or sign.
Consider song lyrics, quotes, protest signs, etc.
Do I have to write my message on paper? +
Absolutely not! We encourage you to get creative!
Write it on snow, sand, dirt, fabric, or on a screen.
Use markers, paint, thread, macaroni β anything.
Write your message really big, really small, or somewhere in between (just try to make sure we can read it in the photo).
The submission page asks for a PIN. Where do I find that? +
The PIN can be found on the info card you received with your Stuffie.
We love this! Are we allowed to post more than one photo message? +
Post as many as you'd like, while being sure to pass the Stuffie along within a week.
How long can we keep a Stuffie before we need to send it off? +
We know they are cute and you'd like to keep them for a bit. However, we ask that you try to pass them on within a week so they have a chance to spread their messages far and wide.
We've had our fun with the Stuffie and are ready to send it on. How do we decide who to send the Stuffie to? +
It's up to you. While we kept the Stuffies local to start off with, feel free to forward them to anyone you feel may have a meaningful message to share. You can pass it off hand-to-hand or send it in the mail. Be sure to send the Stuffie, the bag, and the Welcome card.
If you decide to mail it, please ask the recipient to let you know when it has arrived so that we'll know if it gets lost in the mail.
For now we ask that Stuffies remain in the US. If one travels abroad with you, please ensure its safe return so that its journey may continue.
What should we do if a Stuffie, bag, tag, or welcome card is lost or broken? +
Not a problem. Things happen. Please reach out at stuffiesforgood@gmail.com and let us know what's missing or broken, and we'll fix it up right away.
