Everyone deserves to feel safe. That doesnāt mean avoiding accountability. It doesnāt mean there arenāt consequences for harm. Safety and accountability are not opposites. Justice systems are strongest when they protect human dignity while holding people responsible. But when leaders say their actions are about safety, I think itās worth asking: safety for whom? If entire neighborhoods feel afraid to go to school, go to work, or seek help when they need it, thatās not the kind of safety I believe in. Safety that relies on fear alone isnāt real safety. To me, safety means children sleeping peacefully. Families accessing support without fear. Communities that trust the systems around them. Iāve had a lot of fun with this little mouse. Weāve gone for rides together and spent time in the kitchen while I prepared meals and cleaned up. Mouse has met some of my friends and family ā and Iāll honestly have a hard time letting go. But thatās the point. I canāt wait to see the journey continue as Mouse spreads messages along the way. š Everyone deserves to feel safe.
